16/12/2008 K.S.-Circle Vienna: Commitment in Africa This time the atmosphere in the K.S.-Circle was a pre-Christmas, contemplative one. Karin Strahner welcomed Carlo Hasenoehrl as guest speaker. He is a plastic surgeon in Innsbruck and Vienna. Since 2006 he has worked every year on his own initiative and at his own cost for those people who cannot afford him otherwise, but need him urgently, for instance children in Tanzania with burns and mutilations. In December 2006 Carlo reported for the first time on his Ifakara project; new oxygen concentrators could be bought with the generous donations. He told the members what had changed in the hospital since his first stay in Ifakara. With photos, getting under everybody’s skin, he demonstrated the impressions of his latest journey. His goal for 2009 is a new X-ray device. The members of the K.S.-Circle helped with pleasure. Every donor received a small golden star and thank-you-presents from Estée Lauder, Schlumberger, Pöhl am Naschmarkt and eplus. | 2/12/2008. Gala-dinner of the Occupational College for Tourism and Trade, Landeck This year, again, the students and teachers excelled themselves. They had prepared for about 150 delighted guests a delicious five course meal and exquisite wines from the Christoph Edelbauer vineyard in the Kamp-valley in Lower Austria The music was again provided by the “Ohrenschmalzler”-band. Reverend Richard Rotter was the guide through the program. The generous guests donated a sum total of more than € 8000.--. 21/9/2008 - Parish Fair in Zams As every year, our association was present again at the Parish Fair in Zams. At our stall we sold roast chicken, Wiener schnitzel and fried sausages with sauerkraut. The proceeds went to the general association. The money will be used for the training of doctors and give poor children the chance to attend a primary school. |
